Congratulations to new mum Turia Pitt!

Congratulations to new mum Turia Pitt!

Turia Pitt has welcomed her first child with fiance Michael Hoskin.

The 30-year-old, who suffered severe burns to more than 60% of her body in 2011 while competing in a marathon in Western Australia, announced her family’s new arrival on social media.

She shared gorgeous photographs of herself and her bub, captioned: "Welcome to the world Hakavai Hoskin."

In her newsletter, she added: “We’ll be in this little newborn bubble for a few weeks but we wanted to pop our heads out for a moment to share the news directly with you.”

Pitt will share her amazing journey with Women in drinks at its International Women's Day event in March 2018. She will discuss her intensely personal story of thriving in the face of extreme adversity. Despite suffering life-threatening injuries, the mining engineer and ultra-marathon runner has gone on to compete in ironman events and raise more than $1million for her NGO.

"Surviving against overwhelming odds, I’ve rebuilt my life and defied every expectation placed on me," she said. "I’m living proof that, with the right mindset, we truly can achieve anything."

Pitt's speech will be followed by an honest and lively discussion asking 'Is Trying Good Enough?' led by Australian industry experts, who will debate the pitfalls and pointers in the quest for gender diversity.

Don’t miss out on one of the year’s most talked about events for the drinks industry and a chance to hear about Pitt's inspiring path to motherhood.
