The Drinks Industry Show is celebrating the "raging success" of its Summer Launch Party.
Monday night’s event was filled with excitement in the build up to the 2018 Drinks Industry Show, which will be held June 18-19 at Sydney’s Darling Harbour.
Event Director David Paterson said: “Despite the inclement weather, the industry turned out in support. There was so much excitement around the positive changes we’ve made to this show’s format that many in the trade had registered interest to attend the cocktail-networking pre-event.
“And it was a superb way to spend a Monday evening, sampling specially created, innovative cocktails, paired with avant-garde food — two elements at the core of this industry thriving.
“Drinks Industry Show Event Curator Ben Davidson [pictured main] created our cocktails. We began with a welcoming ‘Botanic Collins’, named after the stunning location of the Botanic Gardens Restaurant in Sydney’s Royal Botanic Garden. It referenced the setting by using lemon myrtle syrup as one ingredient, and was garnished with a eucalyptus leaf. Then we had a ‘Nori Martini’, which included nori-infused gin, plus wasabi and ginger syrup, which Ben paired with a tuna and black sesame roll with ponzu.
“This was a ‘taste’ of what’s to come at the show in June, where we’ll have a Pairing Station at which top industry professionals will showcase and demonstrate ‘what’s hot’ for attendees so they can sample fantastic new tastes that will work for their individual businesses.”
Another fun element of the Summer Launch Party was an “If the Key Fits Competition”. Each attendee was given a key to the treasure chest, with Andrew Ho of Bankstown Paceway walking away the winner of some fantastic prizes.
Paterson said, “The feedback from the pre-event was brilliant. Now everyone is so excited about what they will learn, taste and see and what connections they can make for their businesses at the show. Our thanks to show headline sponsor Hemp Oz, as well as beverage sponsor Samuel Smith & Son.
“The party was a great, fun, relaxed way to catch up with peers and industry leaders before the show in June. From the turnout and comments, the industry really affirmed that this is the show they want — starting with the format, right through to the content. Add the new venue at Dockside, overlooking Sydney’s Darling Harbour, and it’s the perfect spot for the fun, informative, event.
“I encourage everyone to take advantage of the opportunities on offer at this inventive, trade-only event.”
