Amatil's double win at 2018 SafeWork NSW Awards

Amatil's double win at 2018 SafeWork NSW Awards

Coca-Cola Amatil is celebrating winning two out of six categories at the 2018 SafeWork NSW Awards.

Lisa McCahon, Workers Compensation Manager and Bridie Gloag, NSW Safety Specialist were selected from a competitive field of 160 businesses and individuals that produced 34 finalists.

Alison Watkins, Group Managing Director at Coca-Cola Amatil said the recognition by SafeWork NSW is an example of the safety spirit across the organisation.

“Continuously improving health, safety and wellbeing for our employees is a key priority for us. At Coca-Cola Amatil we believe safety is everyone’s responsibility, and with stewards like Lisa and Bridie introducing meaningful programs that align with our business goals – we are on the right path.”

The 2018 SafeWork NSW Awards are the premier safety awards in NSW. They promote high standards of workplace health and safety and return to work outcomes in workplaces around NSW.

McCahon won Best Individual Contribution to Workplace Health and Safety. She started with Coca-Cola Amatil nine years ago and identified an opportunity to focus on mental health within health and wellbeing projects at the company.

With the businesses support, McCahon engaged AON to deliver ‘Mental Health First Aid’ training across Australia. Coca-Cola Amatil currently employs 36 trained Mental Health First Aiders.

Gloag won the Safework NSW Leadership in Safety Award. With manual handling injuries accounting for most injuries at Coca Cola Amatil, Gloag has been instrumental in delivering manual handling training to reduce this statistic. Over the past 18 months, Gloag has gone above and beyond to lead an organisation-wide initiative to develop, build and implement the new hazard and incident online portal, Beakon.

Amatil noted that her consultation across the entire workforce to ensure this system met the needs of the end users and offered improved customer experience is testament to the enthusiasm she has for WHS.
