Diageo has triumphed at the 2018 Australian Drinks Awards, taking out both Supplier of the Year and Most Improved Supplier of the Year.
The results were determined by Advantage Australia’s benchmark surveys of on and off-premise retailers, involving hundreds of participants at all levels of seniority and with all supplier-facing functions with every major retailer in the liquor industry.
Diageo won Supplier of the Year for having the highest “Net Favourable” result from the combined, total retail/wholesale network across all the important aspects of business engagement.
A high Net Favourable result means that the supplier has the biggest difference between having “Promoters” in the industry, or those retailers who rate the supplier as best or better than average, less the “Detractors”, those retailers who rate the supplier as worst or worse than average.
The performance areas that make up the rating are: Business Relationship & Support; Personnel; Category Management; Consumer Marketing Support; Customer Marketing / Promotion Practices; Supply Chain Management.
The Most Improved Supplier Award recognises suppliers who have successfully set and executed a plan of improvement and been recognised by retailers for improving their professionalism and delivery across the entirety of their commercial relationship.

Lion wins Supply Chain Partnership award
Lion has taken out the Supply Chain Partnership award at the 2018 Australian Drinks Awards.
The Supply Chain Management Award – sponsored by Kegstar - was introduced to place increased focus on the vital connection between suppliers and retailers in supply chain engagement beyond just the hard service level results.
“Congratulations to Lion on winning the inaugural Supply Chain Management award, recognising excellence in the vital supply connection between suppliers and retailers. Lion has been rated towards the top end of overall retailer engagement for some years now, and it’s great to see their consistent performance recognised with this award,” said Andrews.

The Australian Drinks Awards are an initiative by The Drinks Association to celebrate excellence in the drinks industry. The 2018 awards were held at the Ivy Ballroom, Sydney, on September 13.
