Transforming the drinks industry to be future fit

The Drinks Association’s Diversity & Inclusion Council will hold a summit tomorrow to discuss shaping the Australian drinks industry for the future.

Senior leaders are attending the summit to show their support for a more inclusive drinks community.

Chair of the Diversity & Inclusion Council Denis Brown said the event was a significant milestone for The Drinks Association: “Tomorrow afternoon, prior to the Australian Drinks Awards, we hold our first leadership summit for the Diversity & Inclusion Council. We will be discussing how we transform the industry to be future fit. With 100 attendees and a fantastic panel discussion planned, I looking forward to our leaders demonstrating their commitment to continuing to build an attractive, diverse and inclusive industry.

Keynote speaker at the event will be Raelene Castle ONZM, Chief Executive Officer of Rugby Australia. Castle was previously the CEO of the Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs, where she spent four years leading the National Rugby League club after six years as CEO of Netball New Zealand.

The panel discussion will feature Patrick Jordon, HR Director at Cola Coca South Pacific; Cathi Scarce, Acting Director of Coles Liquor; and Justine Baker, CEO of Solotel.

Jordan's HR background and experience has grown with Coca-Cola following a decade-long HR career in financial services working with the National Australia Bank and Babcock & Brown. While in these roles, he developed and implemented strategic HR Initiatives across various disciplines including strategic HR business partnering and employee equity.

Scarce has spent 25 years with Coles, progressing from selling on the shop floor as a department manager to her current role managing a team of approximately 6200 staff across 900 stores Australia wide. She is a member of the Coles Diversity and Inclusion Steering Committee, Chair of the Coles Gender Balance Steering Committee, a member of The Diversity and Inclusion Council for The Drinks Association as well as the Australian Beverage Association.

Baker has 15 years’ experience leading strategic opportunities at Solotel. These include the merger of Matt Moran's Morsul business into the Solotel Group and the launch of its events business. Her focus is on sustainable business growth, culture, authentic leadership and innovation.
